It’s not just brain cancer that has doctors worried about the health impacts connected to cell phones. In addition to brain cancer, health concerns from cell phone wireless radiation include increased oxidative stress, altered brain activity, hearing loss, fertility issues and impacts on brain neuron maturation.
Recent research suggests impacts on the hippocampus and cerebellum when test animals are exposed in utero. For example, Dr. Hugh Taylor Chief of OBGYN at Yale has shown that pregnant mice exposed to this radiation have offspring with increased hyperactivity, decreased memory and altered brain development. Dr. Devra Davis, epidemiologist and author of Disconnect: The Truth About Cell Phone Radiation recently presented at the Commonwealth Club bringing together scientists to discuss the current science showing brain, breast cancer and reproductive organ impacts. At this conference Dr.Suleyma Kaplan presented his research showing significant changes in brain neuron development after exposure to this radiation.

Digital Dementia in kids
Scientists in Korea have additionally found something called Digital Dementia in children. They reported that children who are heavy technology users have brains that underdeveloped on the right side. This has been characterized by memory loss, attention disorders, lack of eye contact, lack of empathy, and difficulty feeling or showing emotions.
Furthermore, cell phone use has been linked to increased production of glucose in the brain; in a recent National Institutes of Health study, and increased presence of glucose in the brain was associated with Alzheimer’s disease. A recent study on 4G technology showed that the radiation affected brain neural activity not only in the closer brain region but also in the remote region, including the left hemisphere of the brain.
Proximity can cause problems too
It is also important to note that there is a growing body of evidence connecting illness to proximity to cell phone towers. In concentrated countries such as India, there are often a great number of people living close to cell phone towers, and these people are reporting a variety of ailments, including difficulty sleeping, nausea, and more. Thus, there are several reasons to be concerned about wireless radiation.
Recent research points to increased oxidative stress from cell phone radiation. Oxidative stress is important to the development of cancer, among other things, because it essentially disrupts the normal redox state of cells, damaging cells and their DNA through the production of peroxides and free radicals.
