Nix WiFi in Schools

Remember the photos of the lemmings following the herd and rushing over the cliff to their deaths.  They remind me of how we humans are behaving right now.  One of my concerns, mentioned before in these columns, is about the safety of wifi.  We are rushing to put wifi into schools.  “Surprise”…there are major health concerns for the children in these schools when they become exposed to all that electromagnetic energy.  Scientists in other countries are advising their governments not to allow this.  In the United States, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine this summer came out with a statement: “Adverse health effects, such as learning disabilities, altered immune responses, headaches, ect. from wireless radio frequency fields do exist and are well documented in the scientific literature.  Safer technology, such as using hard-wiring, must be seriously considered in schools for the safety of those susceptible individuals who may be affected by this phenomenon.”  http://aaemonline.org/wifischool.html if you wish to read the original.

We have many battles to fight to maintain our good health and the good health of our loved ones including pesticides, air pollution, genetically-modified foods, and now wifi.  If you have children in a school that is considering wifi, I strongly recommend this is one of the battles worth fighting.   Check out http://www.safeinschool.org/ for references.
