Smart Meter Assistance Hotline: Support Needed

Support the Stop Smart Meters! Toll-Free Hotline
The other day I answered our hotline phone and it was a woman in a Midwest state that does not have any formal anti-smart meter group. She was feeling very isolated and unsure of herself, beginning to organize against smart meter deployment in her neighborhood. Some people just have to get offline and have a real conversation with a human.
After our 10 minute conversation, she told me:

"I’ve felt like the lone ranger, and now i feel energized after our talk…. I am going to get some brochures and cards and start a group in my area..."
If there is one thing we are good at, it's a pep talk complete with your legal rights and organizing tips and advice. Organizing doesn't have to be a chore, we often tell people. It can be a fun, empowering, community building exercise.
The other thing we constantly remind people is that the only legal rights a utility has on private property are defined in the utility easement-- they are allowed to read your analog meter and maintain your analog meter but they have no legal right to force a telecommunications or surveillance device (a smart meter) on your home. It's the truth!
You may have benefited from access to our hotline in the past, or you may have called and are still waiting for a call back. There are currently more calls than we can handle- we have a backlog of between 100 and 200 calls at the moment that we are slowly working through. If your call is time-sensitive or a utility is threatening to install, please call us back.
Did you know our toll-free hotline is grassroots-funded, meaning we do not receive any grant or government funding to keep it running. We depend solely on your donations and sales of EMF meters and other items from our online store. The hotline costs us more than $400/ year to keep going, not including staff time.
Will you make a small donation of any amount today, to allow us to expand the Stop Smart Meters! Hotline and other outreach activities and services? No donation amount is too small- every penny helps us expand this crucial service.
Make a quick and easy online donation of any amount now or send a check to: Stop Smart Meters! PO Box 682 Portola, CA 96122.
Thank you so much for your support and don't forget to.... Stop Smart Meters!
