Mumbai: Noted actor Rohit Roy seems to have taken a social initiative of avoiding parents from giving mobile phones to their children. The actor, who is also a parent, highlighted the ill-effects of the same on twitter.

The “Shootout At Lokhandwala” actor, stated that though mobile phones are the basic need of today’s generation but it should be handled with caution. One should avoid long hours of conversation on mobiles and keep the phone minimum one inch away from ears. Use ear-phones and coded Bluetooth for long talks, advices the actor.

He also said that phones should not be given to the kids, not even to play, as they releases radioactive waves; injurious to the health of children.

"And definitely don't give ur kids the phone? Not even to play? They are most susceptible to radio waves as their skins are thinner," said Rohit in his posts.

The actor also cautioned the adults that they should keep the phones away from them while sleeping as it affects the nervous system.

"Cell phones are dangerous in a way that u don't realise? It's a debilitating device which will affect ur skin n nervous system if used excessively or incorrectly. Keep it away from u while sleeping," wrote the actor.

The actor also added that it should not be treated as a ‘preaching’ but as an important ‘information’.

"Please, please take a few simple precautions as it'll help u stay away from the ill effects... We are all dependent so let's be responsible," urges the actor.
