ACTION ALERT: Tell Speaker Vos to reassign smart meter bill to proper committee
September 3, 2013
The smart meter opt out bill
is being formally introduced as AB 345. It was assigned to the Assembly Energy
and Utilities Committee chaired by Rep Mark Honadel, who has already given his
notice that he is resigning from the assembly in September. It appears that
Republican leadership is not excited about promoting the bill.
Democrats have the
opportunity to wear the white hats here and stand up for this protective bill
for utility consumers. In the meantime, people need to hound Assembly Speaker
Robin Vos to insist he reassign AB 345 to the proper committee. The bill’s
sponsor, Rep Jeremy Thiesfeldt, had asked that it be sent to his committee,
Consumer Protection, which would have made sense.
CALL Speaker Vos to tell him
to reassign the smart meter opt out bill to the Consumer Protection committee.
Remind him that the
Republican Party did pass the following resolution at its spring convention:
…”and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin
must make the usage of smart meters, electrical, gas, and water optional, and
provide for an opt out of the smart meter program at no additional cost.”
Let him know we are not
going away until ALL Wisconsinites have the freedom to opt out of transmitting
utility meters on their properties, not just customers whose utility monopolies
happen to offer opt outs.
CALL TODAY. CALL EVERY DAY
until he does the right thing. Let’s roll.
Rep. Robin Vos
