In 2011, my husband and I launched a lawsuit against telecom giant Bell Aliant for property damage and personal injuries caused by radiation from a cell phone tower. The trial, originally scheduled for April 20, 2015, was postponed after legal maneuvering by Bell Aliant. In December, we retained a new lawyer in Halifax, on contingency, at a very reputable law firm. New court dates have not yet been assigned, as Bell Aliant is seeking to call additional witnesses, and the court dates cannot be set until the number of experts is known. “Contingency” means our lawyer will not bill us for legal fees, but we are still responsible for actual expenses, primarily the costs of flying in our experts from several countries to testify at trial.

My husband and I would like to thank all those who have generously donated to this cause. The money raised thus far has gone to securing experts, paying for their reports, etc. This is classic David and Goliath and we need additional help. To ensure that our case goes to trial we must secure sufficient pledges of funds beforeJune 30, 2016, to pay the costs of bringing our experts to Nova Scotia to testify. At this time, rather than ask for more donations now, we are asking for pledges. We will call in our pledges only if we receive enough promised donations to see us through the trial. At that time, donations will be funneled through the Cellular Phone Task Force, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, for U.S. citizens who need tax deductions. Whether you can pledge $5 or $5,000, your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Our success could have precedent-setting implications that will help every citizen of Canada, and will have implications for other countries as well. The greater public interest will be served as a result of the case heard round the world.

We are up against a telecom company with limitless resources. Some of our experts have offered to reduce their fees, but still the costs are large. Pledges can be sent via email: epettipas@hotmail.com, or postal mail to: Edna Pettipas, 484 Old Antigonish Road, Antigonish, NS B0H 1A0, Canada.
No one should save for a lifetime to finally build their dream home, move in on Christmas Eve, and lose their health, their home, and their life savings as a result. We were told only that if we built our house at least 300 feet from the base of the tower, there would be no danger from falling ice. We are fighting a fight for all of us so that we and our children can live in a world where the Goliaths are not allowed to lie about safety and rob us of our health and our dreams.
