Melbourne Seminar: The Future Roles of Smart Meters in Industry
August 15, 2012 in -Mailing List, Smart Meters by EMFacts
As Victoria is presently the focus of anti smart meter protests in Australia perhaps it is fitting that the Australian Institute of Energy hosts a Melbourne seminar on the future of smart meters. For concerned people able to attend (for $40) this could be a good opportunity to voice these concerns and perhaps get some answers.

Seminar: The Future Roles of Smart Meters in Industry
Events — By Greta Harrison
The Australian Institute of Energy presents this seminar with Dr Iain Jennings and Professor Iven Mareels examining the future roles of smart meters in industry. Victoria’s wide spread introduction of smart meters provides a basis for many new capabilities, particularly for industry – but only a fraction of these functional capabilities are sanctioned for use. Rather than debate their merits, the seminar’s speakers will provide an overview of potential industry scenarios that Advanced Metering Infrastructure could underpin and highlight issues that must be overcome.
Dr Iain Jennings is an experienced leader of change in the electricity industry locally and internationally, with qualifications covering project management, construction and quantity surveying. He is a company director and founded a new utility company NGE.
Professor Iven Mareels is Dean of Engineering at The University of Melbourne and his research is in the power engineering area including grid optimisation.
