Mobile phone radiation can make men impotent: Research

Mobile phone radiation can make men impotent: Research

New York: Do you eat, sleep and drink your mobile phone, literally? Limit your WhatsApp or Facebook urge as men using cell phones for over four hours a day are at a greater risk of impotency than those who use it for less than two hours, an alarming research has indicated.
Two new studies in Austria and Egypt have linked daily cell phone use to erectile dysfunction (ED).
The researchers believe the damage could be caused by the electromagnetic radiation emitted by handsets or the heat they generate.

For the study, the researchers recruited 20 men with erectile dysfunction and another group of 10 healthy men with no complaints of ED.
There was no difference between either group regarding age, weight, height, smoking, total testosterone or exposure to other known sources of radiation.
Scientists found that men who had erectile dysfunction carried switched-on cell phones for an average of 4.4 hours daily, whereas the men without erectile dysfunction averaged 1.8 hours.
"Men who use mobile phones could be risking their fertility," said the researchers in a report published in the latest newsletter of Environmental Health Trust (EHT).
A non-profit organisation, EHT focuses on raising awareness on the negative impacts of unsafe cell phone use and performing cutting-edge research on cell phone radiation.
However, neither study found sperm count was affected.
"Our study showed the total time of exposure to the cell phone is much more important than the relatively short duration of intense exposure during phone calls," the researchers noted.
Since the preliminary study was small-scale, the researchers concluded that the results indicated a need for larger-scaled studies.

Second grader patterns science fair project after Danish experiment

April 02, 2014

ALMONT — When the school district rolled out the Ipads this year, Aiden Fitchett noticed something new; as he did when seated near the wireless projector any time a teacher used one for a presentation: headaches. Bad ones. Bad enough that the 8-year-old second grader would come home crying from the pain.

His mom, biologist Rachel Fitchett, made a correlation between Aiden's headaches and the circumstances: wireless fidelity waves or WiFi, which has been associated with causing physical effects in a small percentage of the population.

"I knew the health risks associated with WiFi and asked the teacher to relocate him and the headaches stopped," Rachel says.

While that was great, the situation still puzzled Aiden's inquisitive mind. So when Science Fair time rolled around he knew exactly what he wanted to delve into.

"I want to know why I get headaches when I'm around wireless devices but not the wires," Aiden says. "We use a laptop at home, and we have a television set, and it's only around wireless that I get the headaches."

So Aiden set about to answer his question. Patterning his experiment after a Danish experiment by a group of 9th grade students, Aiden and his mom bought some garden cress seeds, growing trays and napkins and got to work.

Aiden placed an equal amount of garden cress seeds atop two napkins, which he placed inside two growing trays. Each was watered until damp. One tray was placed six inches from a wired laptop which was kept on the whole time.

The other tray was placed six inches from a WiFi router in a neighbor's home which was turned on the whole time as well.

Both trays received sunlight from west windows, and both rooms were kept at 69 degrees. The trays were watered daily with the same amount of water.

After six days, the results—similar to those in the Danish experiment—were stunning.

"At first Aiden was excited as the seeds started to grow, but by the second to the last day one of his notations on the WiFi sprouts was 'strange,'" Rachel says.

In the Danish experiment, the cress seeds placed near the WiFi device did not sprout at all. While Aiden's WiFi seeds sprouted, they did not look anything like the robust sprouts growing in the wired room.

The sprouts tasted different as well. Garden cress is a fast-growing herb with a peppery, tangy flavor and smell. The wired seeds tasted strong and peppery—so much so that Aiden had to run for a glass of water. The WiFi seeds had little taste at all. In fact, Aiden said they tasted "like water."

Aiden's conclusion?

"The garden cress are living and growing just like me," he says. "The ones by the WiFi were not healthy and looked crazy. Wireless devices must send things through the air that are not good for my body."

Aiden's mom tends to agree—although in more scientific terms.

"Results clearly showed reduced DNA repair capacity and cell proliferation , hence mimicking the growth of cancerous cells," she says. "The Garden Cress seeds exposed to wireless signals were in fact mutated and unhealthy."

Rachel believes when the wireless signals are intensified by use of multiple devices, so is the negative effect.

"The more that are together, the more concentrated the ill effects are," she says.

Aiden's headaches continued during computer class, so he has since been pulled.

"He's a very bright kid who excels in all subjects, Rachel says. "He doesn't need to get whatever it is they're getting in there."

Along with Aiden, Rachel and husband Matthew are parents of Caila, 6, Levi, 4, and Eliniah, 21 months.

I appreciate that the North Kingstown School Committee would like to believe there is not a problem with Wi-Fi. It can then, of course, take advantage of the large $688,000 grant that is available to install new technologies. Under normal circumstances, it would be reasonable to cite Federal Communications Commission exposure guidelines to justify the safety of installing antennas, but this issue is complex, and what the School Committee seems not to understand is that in thousands of peer reviewed studies, published in prestigious scientific and medical journals, it has been well-documented that FCC guidelines for wireless radiation are not protective of human health, nor protective of wildlife or the ecosystem.
Studies from countries the world over repeatedly have stressed the special vulnerability of children to the physical and cognitive effects of this radiation. So, under these circumstances, before the truth is fully out on this issue, while the FCC is reviewing its guidelines, while other countries are starting to take Wi-Fi out of schools, turning off cell towers and limiting cell phones, and while physicians groups are recommending limiting radio frequency/microwave exposures to children, what is the right thing for the School Committee in North Kingstown to do?
The one thing to not do would be to rush into a decision of such significance, with potential grave long-term consequences for pupils and faculty alike, especially when the schools are already hard-wired and students already have access to the Internet. Only one member of the School Committee attended my lecture in Wickford on March 13, where I presented quite a bit of the science.
A knee-jerk response would be to shun accountability by merely pointing to other “authorities’” opinions on this issue, such as the “FCC guidelines,” or the “evidence” other schools are installing Wi-Fi antennas. But two wrongs do not make a right, and numbers, as we all know, are sometimes designed to deceive. It may be the easier path to take to prevent spending time in the weeks ahead digging into this subject, but it is not the most responsible. The School Committee is, after all, ultimately, responsible for the environment in which more than 4,000 children are educated in North Kingstown, and for the results they achieve. You may not be aware that when radiating devices of distraction are removed from the academic setting, academic performance sometimes soars.
Internet overuse, with radio frequency exposures, has been shown to impair cognitive function, attention and the ability to feel empathy. In worst-case scenarios, children can develop serious technology addictions, and even “digital dementia,” needing intensive, inpatient care in what is a brain condition resembling irreversible dementia in the elderly.
Research shows radiation emitted by cell phones and Wi-Fi impacts children’s development, their cognitive function, attention, memory, perception, learning capacity, energy, emotions and social skills. There also is diminished reaction time, decreased motor function, increased distraction, hyperactivity and inability to focus on complex and long-term tasks.
Cellular devices can lead to a heightened sense of anxiety in children, to isolation and feelings of psychological and physical dependency. Does the School Committee understand there is evidence from many countries of these effects? Why would a School Committee take the risk of chronic Wi-Fi exposure to children and faculty when there are alternative, safer, hard-wired means to access the Internet already installed at the schools?
Putting this situation in historical context might help. Please consider the extraordinary human and environmental toll in situations where government has enabled corporate power and greed at our expense, such as with tobacco, asbestos, DDT, Bisphenyl A, silica, vinyl chloride, PCBs, GMOs, pesticides in food, and more recently, fracking and the neonicotinoid chemicals wiping out bees. Do you really think our federal government is looking out for its citizens’ health? Is the North Kingstown School Committee putting their head in the sand, like a stork, pretending not to understand the dynamics of corporate influence on government?
Instead of welcoming heroic efforts of responsible, intelligent community members, like math teacher Shelley MacDonald, Town Councilman Kerry McKay and School Committee member Bill Mudge, is the School Committee wishing these individuals and concerned parents could be silenced to prevent the awkwardness of this moment – this moment of ethics when who one is as a human being is tested? Don’t we all want a different kind of America, where the truth is always welcomed and citizens actively engage with government to assure representation of all interests, including our children’s health, cognitive function, learning capacity and DNA?
We need courage on this subject in our governments on all levels, with people willing to speak truth to power from the highest levels to the local school boards. If one examines the U.S. government track record on health and environmental concerns, you will find decades-delayed responses to critical public health issues, with a huge public health and economic toll, because Congress was heavily influenced by industries. On the Moyers & Co. show last spring, “The Lead Wars: The Politics of Science and the Fate of America’s Children” showed the lead issue to have all the same dynamics as the present issue with electromagnetic fields, including suppression of science, intimidation of scientists, influence on media and industry responding as if the public concern was a public relations problem, not a public health problem. A challenging situation, indeed, but not something Americans of character would shy away from.
School Committee officials in North Kingstown have a moral and legal duty to consider all the known information about the biologically active nature of electromagnetic fields, and to not be swayed by the aggressive commercial efforts of technology companies. Slow down. Consider the evidence. Do the right thing for children, please.

How Cell Phones May Cause Autism

How Cell Phones May Cause Autism

November 27, 2007

Rates of autism, a disabling neurodevelopmental disorder, have increased nearly 60-fold since the late 1970s, with the most significant increases occurring in the past decade.

The cause of autism is unknown, although theories include such potential causes as:
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Inability to clear heavy metals
  • Increased vulnerability to oxidative stress
  • Environmental exposures including mercury preservatives in vaccines
  • Trans-generational accumulation of toxic heavy metals
Now a groundbreaking new theory has been suggested by a study published in theJournal of the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine: electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from cell phones, cell towers, Wi-Fi devices and other similar wireless technologies as an accelerating factor in autism.

EMR May be the Missing Link

The study, which involved over five years of research on children with autism and other membrane sensitivity disorders, found that EMR negatively affects cell membranes, and allows heavy metal toxins, which are associated with autism, to build up in your body.

Meanwhile, the researchers pointed out that autism rates have increased concurrently along with the proliferation of cell phones and wireless use.

EMR, the researchers say, could impact autism by facilitating early onset of symptoms or by trapping heavy metals inside of nerve cells, which could accelerate the onset of symptoms of heavy metal toxicity and hinder therapeutic clearance of the toxins .

Speaking in reference to the huge rise in autism rates, the study’s co-author, said, “A rise of this magnitude must have a major environmental cause. Our data offer a reasonable mechanistic explanation for a connection between autism and wireless technology.”

They also suggest that EMR from wireless devices works in conjunction with environmental and genetic factors to cause autism.

Dr. Mercola's Comments:

I am absolutely convinced that the explosion of cell phone usage around the world is one of the primary contributors to the autism epidemic. The information-carrying radio waves from cell phone base stations and cell phones makes children’s exposure to vaccines and heavy metals much more dangerous than they typically are.

Why?

Because EMR may actually trap heavy metals inside your cells, allowing them to cause damage and hindering your body from detoxifying them.

While I realize that most people will not avoid cell phones because of their convenience, I would urge you to not let your kids use them.

I warned of these dangers on my Today Show interview last month, but the media blacklisted it and only showed a short section of what I had to say.

So let me say it again here: the density of your child’s skull is far less than an adult’s, and their brain is far more susceptible to these information-carrying radio waves.

For this reason, you should not allow your child to use a cell phone, and you should also never hold an infant while you’re talking on one -- when you are on a cell phone the radiation plume can easily reach an infant in your other arm and penetrate their skull.

Folks, by the end of this year it’s expected that 4 billion cell phones will have been sold. This is a massive explosion in cell phone use, and one that is undoubtedly linked to health problems, including autism.

The information-carrying radio waves from cell phones may:
  • Damage your cell membranes
  • Decrease your intracellular communication by disrupting microtubular connections that allow biophotons to communicate between cells
  • Increase deposits of heavy metals into your cells, which increases intracellular production of free radicals and can radically decrease cellular production of energy -- thus making you incredibly fatigued
Cell phone users are also 240 percent more prone to brain tumors, and a study back in 2004 found that your risk of acoustic neuroma (a tumor on your auditory nerve) was nearly four times greater on the side of your head where your phone was most frequently held.

What is even more concerning, though, is that there is VERY solid evidence that the number of brain tumors will increase to 500,000 per YEAR in 2010 -- and this will double to 1 million every year by 2015 if the causes are not addressed.

Folks, this is the real deal and represents an impending health care crisis.

Can Cell Phones Ever be Used Safely?

Ideally, I believe you should not use cell phones. In reality, though, I know that’s not a practical option for many of you.

If you choose to use a cell phone you should use the speakerphone function whenever possible -- and keep the phone about two feet away from any body part. Do not keep the phone on your belt or in your pocket even when you’re not using it, as the radiation WILL penetrate your body wherever the phone is attached. Instead, stow it away in a purse, backpack, or your car’s glove compartment.

For times when a speakerphone isn’t practical, you can use a NON-Blue Tooth headset, such as the Blue Tube headset. While Blue Tooth is certainly safer than no headset at all, it is still broadcasting its own information-carrying radio waves into your brain, just at a lower intensity than a cell phone. And there quite simply is no safe biological threshold for either of them.

The Huffington Post Canada | By André Fauteux
An Australian family physician has rigorously documented 92 cases of patients with symptoms of EHS occurred after the installation of an electricity meter emits radio frequency ( RF) pulse.
A world first, the case study of Dr. Federica Lamech is yet to be published in a scientific peer-reviewed journal, but according to the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM ), it is no less “scientifically valid ” and ” clearly shows the harmful effects of emissions of smart meters on the health of the human population .”  As  an international association founded in 1965, the AAEM includes doctors and other health professionals interested in the impact of the environment on health.
The symptoms observed in patients of Dr Lamech such as fatigue, headaches, heart palpitations and dizziness are correlated with the guidelines of the Austrian Medical Association for the diagnosis and treatment of health problems related to electromagnetic fields (EMFs), emphasises the AAEM.  The symptoms could also be triggered in the laboratory through EMF exposure under controlled-conditions (double-blind, placebo-exposure): neither the patients nor the researchers knew who was exposed or not to EMF.
“The peer-reviewed scientific literature demonstrating the correlation between exposure to EMF/RF and neurological, cardiac and pulmonary diseases and reproductive disorders, immune dysfunction, cancer and other health problems,” says the AAEM.  “The evidence is irrefutable.“
The organization insists that it is “extremely important” to note that the vast majority of the 92 patients were not Australian electrohypersensitive before installing the new generation smart meter.  Dr. Lamech concludes that smart meters ”may have unique characteristics that lower the threshold for developing symptoms of people.”
Health Canada and Hydro-Québec did not want to comment on this unpublished clinical trial.
“Health Canada has concluded that exposure to RF energy from smart meters does not pose a risk to public health,” said spokeswoman Sara Lauer . ”Hydro-Québec makes a tight vigil of scientific publications on the subject and the data put forward by some people, including some clinicians, as to the effects of RF are not supported by rigorous experimental studies show claims,” added relations officer of the corporation, Patrice Lavoie.
Often called smart meters, new generation utilities meters transmit information on the quantities of electricity, gas or water consumed in buildings.  The transmission of this information wirelessly, uses radio frequency microwave type (typically at frequencies 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz).

Wi-Fi Radiation Induces “Diabetic-Like Status” in Rats

Wi-Fi Radiation Induces “Diabetic-Like Status” in Rats

WiFi Clipart WarningIn a recent study published in the journal ofEnvironmental Toxicology and Pharmacology[1], an investigation was performed to study the effects of exposing rats to radiofrequency (RF) radiation from Wi-Fi devices and to further study the possible protective role of administering an olive leaf extract to reduce the damage in liver and kidney cells of the exposed rats.
According to the article, there has been “considerable interest in finding natural antioxidants from plant materials in order to repair several diseases caused by endogenous or environmental factors such as artificial EMF.”  It was further stated that olive leaf extracts have been shown to have “anti-oxidative” properties.
As a part of the study, rats were exposed to RF radiation from Wi-Fi devices broadcasting with a signal at 2.45 GHz.  Rats were exposed for only one (1) hour per day for a total of 21 consecutive days.  This type of exposure was referred to as “sub-chronic.”  Control rats were tested under the same conditions but there were no RF emissions from the Wi-Fi devices.
A principal finding of the study was that “RF exposure induced a diabetes-like status through alteration of oxidative response” and that “RF exposure could decrease body weight between the first and the last day.”  In addition, it was found that administration of the “olive leaves extract was able to correct glucose metabolism disorder by minimizing oxidative stress induced by RF in rat tissues.”
Here is another selected quotation from the published article:
“Indeed, RF radiation induced glucose metabolism disorders.  …  The disorders in glucose metabolic could be explained by alteration in function, structure, and/or secretion of insulin after RF exposure. … Furthermore, RF radiation could affect the glucose uptake by peripheral tissues.”
In the figure shown below, slide A shows normal liver cells with “well preserved cytoplasm, nucleus, nucleolus.”  However, in the case of RF exposed rats, slide B shows liver cells that “were hypertrophied with clear cytoplasm” and that “have a vegetal cell shape, the enclaves were optically empty represent[ing] the steatosis [fatty cells] which defined hepatic lesions.”
RF Effects on Rats
The results summarized above appear quite stunning, and the implications are clear; RF radiation induces adverse biological effects upon cell structures and the functioning of those cells.  Use of antioxidant agents, in this case olive leaf extracts, may be able to provide a protective role against damage caused by RF radiation exposure.
The “highlights” of the published article as summarized at the ScienceDirect website are:
  • The exposition to the radio frequencies (2.45 GHz) induced metabolic disorders.
  • The exposition to the radio frequencies (2.45 GHz) induced a diabetic-like status.
  • The exposition to the radio frequencies (2.45 GHz) induced oxidative stress.
  • Olive leaves extract prevented against metabolic alterations.
  • Olive leaves extract enhanced antioxidant responses.
