Conflict of Interest shakes Canada's Review of Wireless and Cell Phone Safety
Press Release: Citizens for Safe Technology – Mon, Jul 29, 2013 6:00 AM EDT
OTTAWA, July 29, 2013 /CNW/ - A second scientist is under fire for conflict-of-interest on a panel examining safety levels for cell towers, cell phones and WiFi in Canada.
The chair of the panel, Daniel Krewski, resigned suddenly this month over conflict of interest. Now another scientist faces similar criticism. The panel was chosen by the Royal Society of Canada.
The public interest group Canadian's For Safe Technology (C4ST) reports that a second scientist, John Moulder, also has close industry ties and should be removed.
"Mr. Moulder is an American industry consultant," said Frank Clegg, Chairman of C4ST. "He has no place influencing Canada's safety review."
Frank Clegg is a Canadian technology leader who was President of Microsoft Canada for 14 years, before turning his attention to promoting safer wireless technology.
In 2011 the World Health Organization placed wireless radiation from cell towers, cell phones and WiFi on a list of possible cancer-causing agents which also includes lead and DDT.
