Electromagnetic effects evident in the short term

Electromagnetic effects evident in the short term

Abuse to our planet takes about 100 years to fully manifest. It takes 10 years or fewer for effects of microwave radiation to show potentially harmful, or even lethal, results. These afflictions are insomnia, difficulty learning, lessened memory function, tinnitus, disrupted menstrual cycles, male sterility, diminished alertness, nausea, delayed healing, heart palpitations, hypothyroidism, genetic mutations, mental exhaustion, leukemia and cancer, including brain cancer.

Cellphones and cell towers “brain” the unknowing; 3.5 billion cellphones afflict our world. The telecom industry bought Congress decades ago. With the explosion of electromagnetic gadgetry and cell towers engulfing us, now their grip on Congress is deadly. The emissions of electromagnetic radiation are continuous — the ambient toxicity increases rapidly. Proximity to a cellphone, to cell towers, or entering any room with Wi-Fi, expose us to dangerous levels of electromagnetic frequencies. Scientists know how to mitigate these dangers, but this costs providers. And cellphone companies want the world wireless because it is cheaper. They applaud that undeveloped countries must leapfrog landlines because infrastructure is so expensive.

There is now a great accumulation of data that cell towers expose adults, children, pets, lady bugs, birds, ants, plants, food and medications — everyone and everything within reach of more and more of these radiating low-level emissions. “Low level” is misleading. “Ah, ‘low’ — how could there be any harm?” Data dispels this myth. Wi-Fi in a room sends the destructive signal bouncing around like a self-propelled handball traveling the speed of light — zip zap, gotcha! Intake of radiation is cumulative.

For obvious reasons, the number of cell towers and relay stations in Santa Fe is not available. Although unsubstantiated, the grapevine reports that 12 new antennas will be erected. The most egregious and controversial one is the proposed 64-foot tower at the corner of St. Francis Drive and West Alameda. Among other catastrophes, this antenna would lower nearby property values. Why ruin the aesthetics of our unique, ancient city? A “positive” note: New Mexico is the first state to come forward with the statement that cellphones are linked to cancer. Any constructed tower can be ramped up to the power output they choose.

Regarding these proposed towers: “Good morning, welcome to Gonzales Community School, Dragon Fly School, Women’s Health Services and La Montanita Co-op.” Each tower emits different strengths of microwave death. On average, the extent of radiation is from ground zero to three-fifths of a mile, 3,000-plus feet, sweeping 360 degrees.

Presently, despicably, there are no studies under way by U.S. universities, research institutions or the federal government on this crucial issue, abandoning public health concerns. In the meantime, telecom companies pay $3,000 to $5,000 per month to install antennas in our community and on our buildings, such as on St. John’s Methodist Church.

Federal law tops local law, of course, and yet local governments, city councilors, can be persuaded to limit or eliminate cell towers, as they have in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Kansas City, Mo. Both cities have adopted fiber optics, safe and underground and designed to carry all electronic services in one cable. This provider system operates three to five times faster than microwave. This speed and safety invites competitive compliance. That is, wherever the authorities wake up and find the funds.

How long will we endure being poisoned, and how long will communication providers deem to poison us? Let the children decide. Get involved. Facebook: Why fry Santa Fe?
