The First Report of 5G Injury from Switzerland

The first reported injury of 5G in a news report comes from Switzerland, where 5G has been launched in 102 locations.  The weekly French-language Swiss magazine L’Illustré  interviewed people living in Geneva after the 5G rollout with alarming details of illness. In their article, With 5G, We Feel Like Guinea Pigsposted July 18, 2019, they report neighbors met to discuss their many common symptoms and many unanswered questions.

5G: Its Legal but Not Safe

As soon as the antennas were installed, several residents and entire families in the heart of Geneva reported similar unusual symptoms of loud ringing in the ear, intense headaches, unbearable earaches, insomnia, chest pain, fatigue and not feeling well in the house. 29-year-old Geneva resident, Johan Perruchoud, called up Swisscom and was told that indeed the 5G cell towers were activated on the same day he began to feel the symptoms. When  others called Swisscom they were told everything is legal and within guidelines.

Swiss Physician Denounces 5G and Calls for a 5G Moratorium

Dr. Bertrand Buchs, who has also called for a 5G moratorium, states he has seen more and more patients with similar symptoms. He notes, “In this case, our authorities are going against common sense … we risk experiencing a catastrophe in a few years… no serious study exists yet, which is not surprising when we know that this technology was developed in China, then to the United States. In Switzerland, we could open a line for people who feel bad, listen to these complaints and examine them. Our country has the means and the skills. The debate must be launched because the story is not about to end.”

Swisscom: Millions of Fast Connections

Swisscom states, “5G will create new opportunities for residential customers and businesses across Switzerland. 5G is the new mobile communication standard for digitisation, enabling the extremely fast connection of millions of devices, things and people.”  Will those millions of fast connection enable communication, or instead disable people from communicating due to illness?

Dear Diary: Loud Humming, Lots of Pain, Nausea, No Sleep

These stories parallel that of Anne Mills, author of “All EMF’d Up”, who suffered wireless radiation poisoning in Germany when her husband was stationed there for work. She wrote a diary with identical symptoms of those in Geneva. As noted in the Swiss magazine L’Illustré article, her concerns, like those in Geneva, were dismissed. She consulted with German physician, Dr Horst Eger, to confirm her symptoms were that of microwave illness seen in military radar personnel and those working on microwave towers.  All EMFd Up (Electromagnetic Fields): My Journey Through Wireless Radiation Poisoning and How You Can Protect Yourself. “Mystery Illness” In Cuban and Chinese Diplomats is Microwave Poisoning

The New York Times and CBS reported unexplained symptoms in diplomats living in China and Cuba in 2017 and 2018. The source was found to be microwave radiation.  UC San Diego Professor of Medicine, Dr. Beatrice Golomb, published an article in Neural Computation in September 2018, discussing the symptoms of the diplomats living abroad. The symptoms that diplomats and their families experienced, i.e. sleep problems, headaches, strange auditory sounds, anxiety and dizziness were similar to those with microwave illness reported in military studies from pulsed microwave radiation.  See Cuban Diplomats Likely Hit by Microwave Weapons.

Many Others Suffer Microwave Illness/Electrosensitivity

It is reported that 3% to 30% of the population have symptoms similar to Microwave illness or electrosensitivity, depending on the country and if mild to severe symptoms are reported.
Dr. Scott Eberle describes how a physician learned about his own electrosensitivity published originally in 2014 in the Sonoma Medicine and later reprinted in the Santa Clara County/Monterey County Medical Association Bulletin.  You can read Dr. Scott Eberle’s What’s the Diagnosis, Doctor?    He has also written “An Underworld Journey: Learning to Cope with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity.” Dr. Scott Eberle. Writer Alison Main has documented her experience in developing electrosensitivity and her frustration at being more isolated from other people and wireless technology she would like to use. Electro-Sensitivity: When the Modern World Hurts

Geneva blocks the erection of 5G mobile antennas

Last week, Antonio Hodgers, the head of Geneva’s executive, announced a ban on the erection of further 5G mobile antennas in the canton, according to an interview on RTS.

Motivated by uncertainty on the potential health effects of the new technology, the temporary freeze is the most the cantonal government can do to stop the rollout of the technology.
Switzerland’s federal government in Bern calls the shots when it comes to the overall plan on 5G rollout. The cantons are only responsible for putting the plan into action.
The governments of both Geneva and Vaud have now put the brakes on 5G rollout in their territories by putting a freeze on permits to erect further 5G antennas. Any existing ones will remain.
While the new 5G antennas being installed meet the regulations issued by Switzerland’s federal government, Hodgers, a member of the Green party, thinks a broader public debate is required, one that looks at the effect of the radio waves emitted by all of the mobile antennas installed rather than 5G ones alone.
In addition, he thinks Swisscom could have shown greater sensitivity to the public’s concerns – Swisscom recently switched on its 5G network, which is now active in Geneva and the rest of Switzerland.
group of scientists claim the radiation emitted from mobile transmitters may increase cancer risk, cellular stress, harmful free radicals, genetic damage, learning and memory deficits and neurological disorders in humans.
The American Cancer Society says that very few human studies have focused specifically on cellular phone towers and cancer risk, but the energy level of radio frequency waves is relatively low, especially when compared with the types of radiation that are known to increase cancer risk, such as gamma rays, x-rays, and ultraviolet light.
A UK study in 2010 found no association between the risk of early childhood cancers and estimates of the mother’s exposure to mobile phone base stations during pregnancy.
The next significant event in Switzerland’s 5G drama will be the publication of a report by the Federal Office for the Environment on the health effects of 5G, due for release over the summer.

Switzerland - Mobile operators that have invested in 5G technology will not be financially compensated by the state if stricter laws are introduced... The financial cost of complying with scientifically-backed new legislation will have to be borne by the telecom companies.

The Swiss government will apply the precautionary principle to fifth generation mobile communications (5G) and can tighten existing laws in the face of new scientific evidence on risks.

Mobile operators that have invested in 5G technology will not be financially compensated by the state if stricter laws are introduced, the Federal Council responded on Thursday to a parliamentarian’s question. The financial cost of complying with scientifically-backed new legislation will have to be borne by the telecom companies. There was acknowledgement of the World Health Organization’s decision to classify high frequency radiation as potentially carcinogenic to humans but the government pointed out the absence of relevant long-term studies.

Hence, the Federal Council has taken these grey areas into account based on the precautionary principle. It has set stricter installation limit values for sensitive areas likes homes, schools, hospitals, offices, playgrounds, etc.  to ensure low-level exposure over the long term.

When it comes to compensating victims of harmful exposure, several existing legal provisions would make it possible to demand compensation, provided a causal link can be proven. As of now, the law does not provide for the creation of a mutual compensation fund financed by mobile telephone operators.

Swiss popular resistance to 5G grows

The association Stop 5G in Switzerland has called for a demonstration against the new mobile radio standard, the latest sign of growing popular resistance to 5G, reports NZZ. Almost daily, parliamentarians are filing for 5G moratoriums in cantons and municipalities, such as in the canton of Geneva. Their reasoning is the possible health effects of radiation from the new mobile radio standard are still under-researched. Nevertheless, operators received the green light in mid-April and switched on the 5G antennae.

The civic association Stop 5G called for a demonstration in Bern. There was disagreement over whether resistance to mobile communications in general or only against the new technology would be addressed. One member took the position that it has nothing against mobile radio per se, while 5G is unnecessary. Another member, however, regretted that the acceptance of mobile telephony was already too big. For the "truth" - the alleged harmfulness of any mobile phone radiation - the population is no longer susceptible. For pragmatic reasons, therefore, they are targeting 5G.

The main requirement of the civic association is a national 5G moratorium. Recently the federal authorities for the environment (Bafu) and communication (Bakom) saidthat the cantonal administrations are not legally competent to adopt 5G moratoria, as the radiation protection falls under the competence of federal authorities.

Based on the licences awarded following the 5G auctionin February, the mobile operators Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt not only have the right to use the frequencies, but they are even legally obliged to supply at least half of the Swiss population with their networks by the end of 2024.

Deployment of 5G stopped in Switzerland

The implementation of the fifth generation, 5G, for wireless communication has been stopped in three cantons in Switzerland (Jura, Geneva and Vaud) until effects on health and environment have been investigated. This is in line with what we have asked for in the 5G appeal, see www.5gappeal.eu.
Thus, we asked for a moratorium until investigations on adverse effects have been studied by independent scientists. The appeal has been signed by more than 230 scientists and medical doctors.
In the article “World Health Organization, radiofrequency radiation and health – a hard nut to crack (Review) published in 2017 we showed low levels of radiofrequency radiation in the investigated part of the WHO Geneva building. The conclusion was: Ironically enough, whether knowingly or not, the WHO staff seems to protect themselves from high involuntary RF radiation levels at least in the measured areas within the Geneva building.
Those employed at the WHO office in Geneva will now be protected from 5G radiation. The question is if this is justified since people in most parts of the world are not protected and WHO seems not to take action for prevention. As discussed in the article WHO seems to rely on a small group of scientists in the biased ICNIRP group.

5G Moratorium in Switzerland

The ball is really rolling now!

5G: Vaud (Switzerland) Adopts Resolution for a Moratorium

After last week's news about Brussels putting the brakes on 5G, Switzerland's 3rd largest canton (i.e. region) has also called for a halt to 5G, adopting a moratorium.

NOTE: A follow-up breaking article has just been posted here [see auto-translation], which leads with, “Other cantons could follow [with moratoriums] in the next few days. Operators are furious.
Originally posted in French, at LeTemps.ch. English translation is below.

After several twists, the Vaud Cantonal Parliament (Grand Council Vaudois) adopted Tuesday a resolution calling for a moratorium on 5G antennas. The measure should apply until it receives the report of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment on this new technology.

After a long debate, obfuscated by the intervention of the Swiss State Councellor Jacqueline de Quattro, the Vaud Parliamentary representatives said “yes” to the resolution tabled by the Environmentalist “Green” Party Raphael Mahaim by 95 votes for the motion against 9 against it and 25 abstentions. However, they amended the text by establishing a clear timeframe.

The Amended Text

The Green representative wanted the moratorium to apply “at a minimum” until the conclusions of the study of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. A large majority of Parliamentarians, however, preferred a more precise wording on the future, saying it is necessary to wait until the conclusions of the report.

In his speech, Raphael Mahaim emphasized that the announced arrival of 5G was completely lacking planning or coordination. All this does not respect in any way the “the Helvetic tradition of the as it should be“.

Note from TBYP Editor: Earlier today, Raphael Mahaim has stated on Facebook (translated): “In response to the parliamentary resolution from the Swiss Environmentalists (the Swiss ‘Green’) calling for a moratorium on 5G antennas, the Swiss Grand Council has voted a few minutes ago, and the Swiss State Council announced the suspension of permits issued by the State of Vaud. This is excellent news that puts the canton of Vaud at the forefront of this citizen reaction!!!! The work carried out in recent weeks by the Vaudois Greens is paying off”

Caution and Consideration

Over fears, uncertainties, pressures from certain business circles, Raphaël Mahaim asked for caution and consideration. Most importantly, to wait for independent analysis of the impacts of 5G on health as well as on nature and society, including levels of electricity consumption.

The Head of the Liberal-Radical Parliamentarians, Marc-Olivier Buffat, denounced in those points the wish of the Environmentalist to “surf on fear and concern” in order to boost with “disaster-mongering” his campaign for the federal election this fall. According to Buffat, the standards on emissions are already much more strict in Switzerland than anywhere else in Europe.

The Issue of Trust

For the representatives who spoke, the precautionary principle is appropriate, without technophobia. We must wait for the conclusions of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment on 5G. “You have to trust scientists,” said Jean Tschopp, for example.

For the representatives of the radical left, it is nevertheless imperative to keep having concerns about the scientific expertise, as expressed Jean-Michel Dolivo. “No to blind faith,” he said, pointing to the pressures from the business community that he believes can capture scientists.

Confusion

The debate on the 5G antennas became somewhat confusing when Swiss State Councellor Jacqueline de Quattro made her address. She announced that the Swiss Council of State had decided on a moratorium. In agreeing to support the amended resolution, “you are going in the same direction as the government”, she continued.

Absent at the beginning of the debate, the Swiss State Councellor arrived only after being asked to via messages, she said. Her colleague Pierre-Yves Maillard, who is in charge of health, should have answered questions from the Parlementarians, but in the end did not express himself on this subject.

Clarifications

At 1 p.m., however, the Swiss Council of State issued a note to the press to “clarify” the words of Jacqueline de Quattro. “The Swiss Council of State did not take a decision on the authorizations to build 5G antennas and there is therefore no moratorium to date on the questions of these authorizations.” The Swiss Council of State emphasized that its current position is “only, in accordance with the precaution principle, to hold the files relating to the 5G antennas pending the technical guidelines of the Confederation”.

5-MINUTE “TAKE BACK YOUR POWER” ACTION: We ask those with a scientific understanding to please send a brief email to the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, since they are working on a 5G report. Please link to the established science, and highlight the office’s accountability (and liability), in a respectful way.
