cell phone cancer 263x164 Study Indicates 70 300% Increased Brain Cancer Risk from Using This DeviceWhile brain cancer will only affect an estimated of 0.6 percent of men and women, the risk may be much higher for those of us who use our cell phones on a regular basis. New research suggests long-term cell phone users could be at a 300% increased risk of developing the deadly disease.
The Swedish study found that people who use their cell phones for more than a year were at a 70% increased risk of brain cancer. But for those who used their phones for more than 25 years, the risk was 300% greater.
Well over 90% of Americans have a cell phone and more than 56% have a smart phone. Many of these people can’t imagine living without the technology and even sleep with their phone next to them like a mate. But like current and past research suggests, this dependency could be having serious brain-health effects.

Not only did long-term use increase the risk of brain cancer, but so did the amount of time you spend on the phone. According to a press release on the study:
“The total number of hours of wireless phone use was as important as the number of years of use. A fourth of the sample used wireless phones for 2,376 or more hours in their lifetime which corresponds to about 40 minutes a day over ten years. These heavier users had 250% greater risk of brain tumors as compared to those who never used wireless phones or used them for less than 39 hours in their lifetime.”
While frightening, this isn’t the first such research to link cell phone use to brain tumors. A study funded in part by the World Health Organization found a 180% increased risk of brain cancer in people who used their phones for 1,640 or more in their lifetime.
Interestingly, the side of the brain most likely to develop a tumor is the side of the brain you most often put your phone to, indicating the phones are the source of the tumor-causing radiation.
As a result of the growing amount of research, the World Health Organization recently classified radio frequency electromagnetic fields as a possible carcinogen, according to Natural News. As with many types of cancer, you can significantly reduce your risk of brain cancer by limiting your use of cell phone technology. Also, by using speakerphone features and powering down your phone when it’s not in use, you can further reduce your exposure.

The United States Department of Transportation is taking the next step towards creating a “vehicle-to-vehicle” communications system that will allow light autos on the road to receive and broadcast critical information to one another.

Last week, the DOT’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, published an“advance notice of proposed rulemaking” in the Federal Register announcing the department’s intention to move forward with plans that officials believe could save thousands of lives.

“By warning drivers of imminent danger, V2V technology has the potential to dramatically improve highway safety,” David Friedman, NHSTA’s deputy administrator, said in a statement announcing the rulemaking, according to FedScoop. “V2V technology is ready to move toward implementation and this report highlights the work NHTSA and DOT are doing to bring this technology and its great safety benefits into the nation’s light vehicle fleet.”

Earlier this year, US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said that V2V technology “represents the next generation of auto safety improvements,” and is an appropriate next step after safety belts and air bags.

"By helping drivers avoid crashes, this technology will play a key role in improving the way people get where they need to go while ensuring that the US remains the leader in the global automotive industry,” Foxx said in February.

Now after months of research, the NHTSA says they’ve completed “a very preliminary estimate of the costs of V2V and the benefits,” and are hoping to receive more comments in order to develop an effective proposal to be submitted at a later time advocating for the mandatory use of the technology.

According to a technical report released by the NTSA, the V2V system would make the roads safer by creating “highly accurate information” using in-vehicle data that is then sent to other cars as a “Basic Safety Message.”

"In addition, it can process the content of received messages to provide advisories and/or warnings to the driver of the vehicle in which it is installed,” the report reads.

Since the details that would be delivered contain vehicle-specific information, however, privacy advocates may soon object to the plans, as they’d put data like speed and direction in the hands of other drivers, including perhaps police cars..

"For example," part of the technical report reads, "when a DSRC unit sends out a BSM, the BSM needs to: Contain the relevant elements and describe them accurately (e.g., vehicle speed; GPS position; vehicle heading; DSRC message ID, etc.).”

“What NHTSA envisions mandating will not control people's cars but create a uniform communication system built into all vehicles that will give automobile manufacturers the opportunity to equip their products with warning systems that alert drivers to potential accidents — such as one that might be caused by cross traffic at a blind intersection,” opined CNS News reporter Terence P. Jeffrey.

According to the NTSA, installing V2V transmitted in automobiles could cost only $350 by 2020, and the system could save thousands of lives by alerting drivers of up-to-the-second actions of other people on the road, like those who may be running red lights or driving at dangerous speeds.

That type of data collection wouldn’t be anything new for some cars, however, with RT having reported previously that 96 percent of the cars mass-produced during the last year were manufactured with small “black box” surveillance devices that log immense details every time an engine is turned on.

“There’s not so much privacy concerns as actual threats to privacy,” Khaliah Barnes of the Electronic Privacy Information Center told CBS News last year. “These machines collect lots of data, and right now there are no federal laws that safeguard this information. And so what happens is there is an increasing market for this information. Law enforcement wants to see this information. Insurance companies, as well as private citizens involved in litigation.”

Even auto execs have acknowledged as much, with one Ford senior executive having to apologizeearlier this year after boasting at an industry trade show: “We have GPS in your car, so we know what you're doing.”

“Safety is our top priority, and V2V technology represents the next great advance in saving lives,”added Transportation Sec. Foxx. “This technology could move us from helping people survive crashes to helping them avoid crashes altogether.”

Really, there are some misunderstandings. 
Firstly, the abbrevation EHS means "Environmental Health and Safety" in connection with the discussion about healthy events by RADAR. 
By RADAR - equipments the main healthy effect we have by ionizing electromagnetic fields (X-rays) by the Thyratron-bulbs in the electronic system. These exposure is only relevant nearby the electronic equipment, that means for the staff about some meters (< 5 m). 
The RADAR exposure itself is non-ionizing, similar to eposures by off-line communication systems (but with higher -pulsed- energy). 
The judgment of the court in Schleswig was mainly focused to the ionizing effect (= x-rays for the operating staff). 
Additionally there was the discussion about shorttimed high(!)-energetic non-ionizing eposure in the focus of the RADAR-screen, because the German safety guidelines describe only the total mean value of immission over 6 min, that means all over the interval ratio pulse/pause. 
All that is far away from the actual "EHS =electrohypersensitivity"-discussion.

Dear Dr. von Klitzing,

I need your help to sort out the truth behind the recent German radar verdict/German EHS court case; Schleswig-Holsteinisches Oberlandesgericht, 3 LB 21/11, at which I understand you (and Professor Karl Hecht) participated as an expert witness.

I have tried to get to the bottom of the actual verdict, please, correct me if I am wrong below:

1) As far as I can understand, the plaintiff had been damaged from ionizing radiation (X-rays) from a 24 MW radar installation and this was acknowledged by the court of law. Correct?

2) But did the verdict also include a ruling about the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity?

3) And did the verdict also deal with damages from non-ionizing radiation?

4) Finally, the abbreviation ("EHS") in the verdict, does it stand for "electrohypersensitivity" or "Environmental Health and Safety"?

Please, excuse me for being so terribly confused. These legal matters certainly are somewhat clouded, at least to me as a 'court of law'-amateur. So, please, help me to get this 100% correct.

Dr. Bhavin Jankharia, Mumbai based Radiologist and President of Indian Radiology & Imaging Association: “We have been using X-ray radiations for more than 115 years, and we still haven’t been able to establish the relationship of cancer and radiation to any great extent. The mobile tower radiation is inherently a type of radiation that we believe does not produce any kind of significant harm to humans.”

Professor R.V. Hosur, Senior Professor, Department of Chemical Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) said: “Ionising radiation causes damage to the molecules – they break the chemical bonds and can cause health hazards. But non-ionizing radiations (from mobile tower antennae and phones) do not cause the breakage of bonds and do not cause damage to the molecules. Non-ionizing radiation such as mobile emission causes only local change in temperature depending on the extent of use.”

India’s top brain-tumour specialist, Dr. Rakesh Jalali, Professor, Radiation Oncology and Convener, Neuro Oncology Group, Tata Medical Centre said: “The RF waves used in the mobile phone technology are probably at the lowest end of the electromagnetic spectrum and does not cause any DNA kill.”

Professor Michael Repacholi, Chairman Emeritus of ICNIRP and Ex-EMF Project Co-Ordinator, World Health Organization said: “WHO fact sheet states very clearly that the mobile phones do not cause cancer. A number of studies conducted to ascertain relationship between the electromagnetic radiation and cancer have not found anything to indicate mobile radiation causing cancer.” Reassuring pregnant women about EMF radiation from mobile tower antennae and handsets, Repacholi said that the penetration depth of the EMF is only 1-2 mm, so it never really gets close to the foetus in any significant amount to cause any damage.

Dr. Rajesh Dikshit, Department of Epidemiology, Urology (DMG), and Tata Medical Centre, who is leading a study on effect of mobile emissions on human health in Mumbai said: “A number of researches and studies have been conducted around the globe to ascertain if there is any relationship between the RF emissions from the mobile phone and cancer. However, there is not enough evidence proving mobile phones cause cancer in humans.”

COAI continues to work with the Government of India, industry associations, medical practitioners, academicians and activists to dispel myths about adverse effects of cell phones and mobile towers.
Pune: COAI, the apex body of mobile communications companies, has launched a public awareness campaign aimed at allaying health fears and dispelling myths surrounding mobile tower antennae and handsets.

Titled “Mobile Networks and Public Health” series, this is the first time eminent experts from India and world over have come together on a common platform to dispel unwarranted fears of health hazards from mobile towers and handsets. The campaign comprises reference books and videos, and roadshows involving experts from oncology, radiology, molecular and physical science as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The public awareness campaign, created by COAI, will run across several Indian cities, and is aimed to dispel the myths regarding effects of mobile emissions on public health. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) too had recognised the issue that a large section of Indian public harboured unwarranted fears that were not based on scientific data and facts. COAI’s campaign is along the same lines.

The booklet and video series will be widely circulated among the masses, decision makers, and will be circulated on social media.

Mr. Rajan S. Mathews, Director General, COAI, said: “Over the last 20 years, the mobile industry has been successful in putting India on the global map, making us the second largest telecom market in the world. This has also brought in concerns about the Electromagnetic Field with regards to Cell Towers and Handsets. COAI is happy to bring experts from the relevant disciplines such as Physics and Medicine on a common platform to dispel the fear psychosis created by some people who are oblivious of the science and safety regime behind the technology. The video and communication series ‘Mobile networks and Public Health’ will put forth the scientific and safety regime adopted by the Government and industry.”

The first part of the series “Mobile Networks and Public Health” features Professor R. V.
