Coverage on Towering Problem in the Infrastructure Today Magazine, Feb. 2016 Issue
This February 2016 article in Infrastructure Today Magazine (download as PDF) is a fairly balanced article that presents the differing views held by members of the scientific community, the telecommunications industry and the insurance industry regarding the scientific evidence on the biological and health effects of exposure to radiofrequency/microwave radiation from wireless technologies on human health.
The opinions expressed seem to capture the points of view expressed by many concerned scientists, industry scientists and others who are taking part in the ongoing international debate over whether the exposure standards recommended by ICNIRP and endorsed by the WHO EMF Project are sufficient to protect human health.
There has been strong opposition to installing cellular towers in neighborhoods by citizens groups in Mumbai, India. The article presents differing views about whether these concerns are warranted. Among those quoted are the founder and former director of the WHO EMF Project, Michael Repacholi; Dariusz Leszczynski, a scientist who served on the IARC review committee in 2011 that classified RFR as a Class 2B human carcinogen, and Girish Kumar, a professor of electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India. Kumar has made numerous presentations to the Indian government advising them to lower the national RFR exposure guidelines to protect the health and welfare of the Indian people.
