Shaking People out of their Shells of Complacency

Sarah,

Thanks for the post and welcome to the group. I had read that article before about you but hadn't realized that it was indeed the you who had recently joined our group. Personally, I had what you call in England, "ME" (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) but misleading and inappropriately dubbed by the CDC as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in the USA. (It is interesting to note that CFS first became widespread in the USA in 1984 the same year that the first (1G) cell phone networks were also set up in the USA.)

After being extremely sick and incapacitated for about six months with this horrible condition - which is closer to AIDS in its symptomology than chronic fatigue - I started to suspect EMR (esp. microwaves emitted by cell phone towers, cell phones, WiFi, etc) as perhaps being the culprit. There were four 3G microwave cell phone towers within a kilometer of my apartment, two of which were within 300 kilometers. Most of my neighbors had WiFi, which will bleed microwaves into your apartment; I had just (reluctantly) bought a cell phone (though seldom used it); and my office at Kyushu University, where I worked, was extremely electropolluted (as measured with a meter) since it was on the 6th floor and in line-of-sight of a number of microwave and radio towers.

In spite of the fact that I wasn't able to sleep, I did feel a lot better at night. Initially, I mistakenly attributed my feeling worse during the day to my moving around and stimulating pathogens etc. However, I now know that this was in fact due to all the traffic ( i.e. information) being carried on the microwave carrier waves. I also would have these unexplainable anxiety attacks at specific times of the day, usually from 8 AM, 12 Noon, and 7 PM - which I was later able to correlate with peak cell-phone usage times in Japan, where I was living at the time. Finally, I noticed that I felt better or worse in certain places - with lower or higher electromagnetic radiation levels. Basically, what I had would be more appropriately called Neuro-Endocrine Immune-Dysfunction Syndrome (or rather Microwave Sickness), since my brain was not working properly, my hormones were out of whack, and my immune system had completely broken down. I was completely incapacitated. I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't remember things, I couldn't sleep without sleeping pills, my body was infected with a number of pathogens: viruses (Epstein Barr Virus, Cytomegalio Virus, Coxsackie Virus etc.), mycoplasma, molds, candida, and so on. My lymph nodes were constantly swollen, I had constant stomach problems, and I developed a multitude of allergies. (These are all common symptoms of CFS.) I also was unable continue working at the time.

I finally found a log house up in the mountains of Saga Prefecture, Japan, where there was no cell phone nor television coverage. After just staying up there for three days I would say that 50% of my incapacitating symptoms disappeared. I decided to continue my stay and ended up staying up there for approximately four months to let my body heal away from the radiation. However, as I did start to recover, I became extremely sensitive to EMR, especially microwave radiation from cell phone towers and cell phones. I would start to feel sick as we were driving and would approach a cell phone tower - even before I was able to see it. I would become sick if in a room with people with cell phones (and still do). In areas of high EM radiation like Fukuoka, I would even get heart pains.

When I finally became well enough to travel (about 90% recovered), I left highly electropolluted Japan and traveled around southeast Asia looking for a place to live away from the electrosmog. I traveled to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Yunnan Province in China. However, when I returned to Japan from this trip, my heart and lungs became infected with toxic mold. We decided to move out of our apartment and I left my position at Kyushu University and moved in with my in-laws. It took two months of daily acupuncture treatments to get my body back to a reasonable normalcy. I then took off again but was having allergic reactions to mold in any humid country I visited. I finally settled for the city of Kunming in Yunnan Province China because it is relatively clean and relatively dry - and though heavily electropolluted (every idiot and their mother has a cell phone attached to their brain), my allergies (except for ES) cleared up due to the climate. Unfortunately, people here (the foreigners included) are completely unconscious about cell phone use and most people walk around with the cell phones stuck to their heads.

My health was destroyed, my career ruined, my finances exhausted, my social life in tatters (since it is extremely difficult to be around people with cell phones, and most people do not understand and nor do they want to), and my family broken up because of this technology and the unconsciousness of the people using it.

I also find it very difficult to maintain a positive attitude towards the people who are carrying around the cell phones (i.e. what are for me, electromagnetic weapons) making me and others sick. What I also find even more difficult to stomach is the stupid ridicule and blind skepticism of people that would rather not accept the fact that their cell phones and WiFi might possibly be making someone else sick. Finally, what I find completely and utterly unacceptable are the people who are so lacking in compassion that they even have the gall to become angry and accusatory towards someone because they are actually trying to increase awareness and do something about this serious problem. I was told that I was "making people uncomfortable." Well, that is exactly the point: Make people uncomfortable and shake them out of their complacency. (Isn't that what finally happened with Apartheid? There was finally a critical mass when enough people finally said we are not going to accept this any longer.) I was told that I see things in "black and white." Well, yes, some things I do see in black and white: child prostitution, murder, manipulation, slaverly, Apartheid, global warming, the Iraqi War and, "Yes," "the indiscriminate microwaving of our planet ."

It will take maybe five to ten more years but when enough people get sick (and they will) and if they are smart enough to connect their illnesses - not to the disinformation being spread around by the WHO and other governmental agencies but rather - to the having their brains and bodies fried with microwaves and other EMR, then things will have to change. With all these people walking around all day with their cell phones stuck to their heads and the increasing radiation that 3G and 4G phones give off, my guess is that we will start seeing people dropping like flies of brain tumors in the next five to ten years - and it is already starting to happen. Unfortunately, that is what it is going to take to actually shake a lot of these unconscious people out of their shells of complacency.

I am unable to work at my chosen profession. Instead I advise HESE-UK and ES-UK.org about media coverage, I also write articles and ensure that I am participating as much as is possible with ES in this great debate on EMR and linked ill health. My mission is to voice concerns to ensure that ES is widely understood and its core triggers avoided where possible.

I have decided to raise my head above the parapet and voice my own personal EHS case far and wide. I have been written about and appeared on TV. Being visible is so important. We can write to web sites and blog all we like but until we change public opinion and make ES a daily topic we will always be marginalised and ignored. The most comprehensive article was published in the UK Daily Mail at this link:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=450995&in_page_id=1879

I have also appeared on the BBC twice, presenting my own case of EHS; BBC Breakfast was sympathetic; BBC Newsnight was fairly dismissive, and yes I have made my comments known.

In the UK we have now had the 30 minute BBC Panorama programme on WiFi Health Dangers (21.5.07) which has reintroduced the topic of WiFi and EHS/ES back into main stream debate.

A UK colleague, Mr David Baron made the following comments which struck me as particularly poignant:

"As we all know there has been a considerable amount of gerrymandering in respect of the Panorama programme on WiFi in schools transmitted on Monday.

First we had various self-important people being wheeled out of their caves to denigrate the programme before it was aired - Professor Malcolm Sperrin (Director of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering, Royal Berkshire NHS Trust), Professor Will J Stewart (Royal Academy of Engineering, University of Southampton and previously chief scientist with Marconi), Dr Paddy Regan (Centre for Nuclear Radiation and Physics), Professor David Coggan (Medical Research Council) and Mr Bill Thompson, to name but a few - all less than celebrated individuals but well-known when it comes to denigrating fears about emfs and the effects thereof. Afterwards, the Guardian went into overdrive to present the programme in the worst possible light, the voting system on the BBC's Panorama web page appeared to be mendaciously in favour of those who consider there to be no problem and the corporation's website 'Have Your Say' clearly decided not to accept reasoned comment from honest, and scientifically qualified, people who wrote in questioning WiFi safety. But none of this really matters.

Whatever you might think of him, Professor Sir William Stewart is Chairman of the Health Protection Agency (which, of course, incorporates the Radiological Protection Division). As Chairman of the NRPB, he was responsible for the report by the Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones (IEGMP) issued in 2000, since known as the 'Stewart Report', and it was on his watch that the Advisory Group on Non-Ionising Radiation (AGNIR) produced a follow-up appraisal issued in January 2005. His comments when interviewed on the programme:

Stewart (on the results of research). "We found firstly that there may be changes in cognitive functions; secondly that there may be cancer induction and, thirdly, some molecular biological changes."

Stewart (when confronted with Sylvia Wilson who is electro-magnetically hypersensitive). "I sympathise with Sylvia because I suspect a problem. We do not know. It might not be worth worrying about. Or (people like her) might by the human canaries of the future".

Interviewer "The World Health Organisation says categorically that there are no adverse health effect from low-level long term exposure. Is that an accurate reflection?"

Stewart "I think they are wrong."

Interviewer "Why do you think it?"

Stewart "It is not an accurate assessment."

The interviewer went to great pains to express incredulity that HM Government should be taking the word of WHO and others against that of its own principle adviser.

It is the part played by Sir William that is the centrepoint of the debate, not the second-class 'scientists' who stand ready to criticise him at the slightest opportunity nor the number of votes registered on the Panorama website nor the nerds who use 'Have Your Say' as little more than a talking shop to expound their illiterate views. All attempts to cloud the issue by introducing peripheral aspects should be fiercely resisted. It is what the Chairman of the HPA has to say, and the decision by HM Government to ignore him, that matters - and this is what we should be shouting from the rooftops.

David"

There are many other UK based initiatives and we are discovering that weekly media releases are important. We have just circulated the attached which genarated another national piece on EHS in today's SUN on Ryan Warne, who had to give up work because he could not tolerate the new WiFi system. (we don't yet have a link for this piece).

So keep writing to your media - It does work and coverage will raise the profile of EMR health damage further until we are not ignored.

with kind regards

BBC Airs Program on Electrosensitivity and "Potential" Dangers of WiFi

Wi-Fi: a warning signal

Wi Fi systems are now in 70 per cent of secondary schools

Britain is in the grip of a Wi-Fi revolution with offices, homes and classrooms going wireless - but there is concern the technology could carry health risks.

The Government insists Wi-Fi is safe, but a Panorama investigation shows that radio frequency radiation levels in some schools are up to three times the level found in the main beam of intensity from mobile phone masts.

There have been no studies on the health effects of Wi-Fi equipment, but thousands on mobile phones and masts.

The radiation Wi-Fi emits is similar to that from mobile phone masts. It is an unavoidable by-product of going wireless.

In the last 18 months another two million of us in the UK have begun using Wi-Fi.

Entire cities have become what are known as wireless hotspots.

Precautionary approach

In 2000, Sir William Stewart, now chairman of the Health Protection Agency, headed the government's inquiry into the safety of mobile phone masts and health. He felt the scientific research was sufficient to apply a precautionary approach when siting masts near schools.

I am asking schools to consider very seriously whether they should be installing Wi-Fi networks now and this will make them think twice or three times before they do it. (Philip Parkin, Professional Association of Teachers)

During that same year, the government sold off the 3G licences for £22.5bn.

Sir William recalls: "We recommended, because we were sensitive about children... that masts should not necessarily impact directly on areas where children were exposed, like playgrounds and that."

But what about Wi-Fi? The technology is similar to mobile phone masts and in use in 70 per cent of secondary schools and 50 per cent of primary schools.

Panorama visited a school in Norwich, with more than 1,000 pupils, to compare the level of radiation from a typical mobile phone mast with that of Wi-Fi in the classroom.

Readings taken for the programme showed the height of signal strength to be three times higher in the school classroom using Wi-Fi than the main beam of radiation intensity from a mobile phone mast.

The findings are particularly significant because children's skulls are thinner and still forming and tests have shown they absorb more radiation than adults.

Safety limits

The readings were well beneath the government's safety limits - as much as 600 times below - but some scientists suspect the whole basis of our safety limits may be wrong.

Panorama spoke to a number of scientists who questioned the safety limits and were concerned about the possible health effects of such radiation.

"If you look in the literature, you have a large number of various effects like chromosome damage, you have impact on the concentration capacity and decrease in short term memory, increases in the number of cancer incidences," said Professor Olle Johansson of the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

Another scientist, Dr Gerd Oberfeld, from Salzburg is now calling for Wi-Fi to be removed from schools.

He said: "If you go into the data you can see a very very clear picture - it is like a puzzle and everything fits together from DNA break ups to the animal studies and up to the epidemiological evidence; that shows for example increased symptoms as well as increased cancer rates."

The clear advice from Sir William Stewart to the government on mobile phone masts was that the beam of greatest intensity should not fall on any part of the school grounds, unless the school and parents agreed to it.

Norwich city centre is blanketed with a Wi-Fi hotspot

Yet the levels tested in the classroom from Wi-Fi were much higher - three times the highest level of the mast.

Panorama contacted 50 schools at random - and found only one had been warned of possible health effects.

Philip Parkin, general secretary of the Professional Association of Teachers said: "I think schools and parents will be very worried about it...

"I am asking schools to consider very seriously whether they should be installing Wi-Fi networks now and this will make them think twice or three times before they do it.

"I think the precautionary approach doesn't seem to have worked because it is being rolled out so rapidly...

"It's a bit like King Canute. We can't stop the tide and I am afraid if schools are told that there is a serious health implication for having these networks in schools, it is going to be a very serious matter to say to schools, you have to switch them off."

Low power

At Washington state university, Professor Henry Lai, a biologist respected by both sides of the argument says he has found health effects at similar levels of radiation to Wi-Fi.

He estimates that of the two to three thousand studies carried out over the last 30 years, there is a 50-50 split - half finding an effect with the other half finding no effect at all.

But the Health Protection Agency has said Wi-Fi devices are of very low power - much lower than mobile phones.

The Government says there is no risk and is backed up by the World Health Organisation which is robust in its language saying there are "no adverse health effects from low level, long-term exposure".

The scientist responsible for WHO's position is Dr Mike Repacholi, who headed up the health organisation's research programme into radio frequency radiation.

He was also the founder of the International Committee on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).

He said the statement of "no adverse health effects" was based on the weight of evidence.

In order for a health effect to be established it must mean it has been repeated in a number of laboratories using very good study techniques. The findings of any published studies had been put in the mix before reaching a conclusion, he said.

"It is called a weight of evidence approach - and if that weight of evidence is not for there being an effect or not being an effect that is the only way you can tell whether there really is an adverse health effect," he said.

"Profits Before People" or "People Before Profits"?

Profits Before People" or "People Before Profits"?

Subject: Re: Mitochondria -- Workshop proposal has wrong premise

A message to the bona fide EMF research community:

The premise of the study that WHO is proposing for the workshop cited below is wrong......

Their Invitation states that the "goals" of the workshop are limited to: "low cost health economics" recommendations. .... "To discuss the cost and feasibility of different options."

Doesn't that put the cart before the horse? It sounds like George Bush's criterion in the Global Warming scenario...... Only those options which do not disturb the "economic development" parameters will be pursued. That is code word language for: PROFITS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PEOPLE.

It is the exact opposite of the premise that should guide mankind's attack on such global 'health and environmental' threatening matters -- which includes the EMF scenario.

Until mankind succeeds in reversing that premise to something like, "PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PROFITS," ... very little progress will be made.

If mankind cannot rely on WHO to turn such "global" health and environmental threats to criteria that put people ahead of profits -- then, I ask, who will???

Cheerio......

in bottom of the page, there are two tables giving the diseases in English. Well, EMF are acting everywhere and activating so much kind of diseases that it's easy to the operators to say : this is impossible... prove it... By the way, WHO is organizing a workshop, look :

China Has More Than 100,000 Autistic Children - Much More! And Indonesia?

Jeepers! They still haven't figured out what causes Autism! Or is it that they really don't want to figure it out - or so it may seem. Is it really that hard to figure out - it's just a matter of connecting the dots. I think that if I had autism (or leukemia or a brain tumor) and I found out that my life was ruined because of all these assholes and their cell phones out there just didn't really care, I would be pretty pissed off. Wouldn't you? But maybe they figure that it is just collateral damage or they can pull a fast one on you. Why? Because you are sick or you have brain damage!

China Has More Than 100,000 Autistic Children
2006-12-07 11:09:49 Xinhua

China has at least 100,000 autistic children but there is a lack of adequate professional treatment available, an expert said Thursday.

"According to the statistics from the second China National Sample Survey on Disability, there are 100,000 autistic children in China. But the real number is much bigger than that," said an official surnamed Li with the Beijing Rehabilitation Association for Autistic Children (BRAAC).

"Beijing alone has about 80,000 autistic children," Li said.

A report by China Central Television (CCTV) said China has at least 1.8 million people, including 400,000 children, suffering from autism.

Autism is a mental disorder that makes it very difficult for people to communicate properly, or to form relationship with others. It accounts for a hefty proportion of mental disability among children, but its cause is a mystery. Some scientists believe it is genetic, while others say it could be environmental.

Doctors say children with autism should receive treatment between the ages of two and 12. With proper treatment at the right time, 20 to 30 percent of sufferers will learn to be independent adults.

However, there are only a few institutions in the country with adequate funding to give special treatment to autistic children, and "a lot of autistic children miss prime opportunities for treatment because of inadequate institutions and funds", according to Jia Meixiang, deputy chairman of BRAAC.

"The burden falls almost completely on the shoulders of the patients, and some parents have to fund rehabilitation centers themselves," said Jia, quoting Wang Guoqiang, father of a autistic child, who has donated 100,000 yuan each year since 2005 to BRAAC to sponsor poor families with autistic children.

Autism patients are not covered by Chinese law on the Protection of the Handicapped.

Earlier reports suggest that China is making efforts to improve the situation of autistic patients. Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan called on the public to care more for children suffering from autism at a charity function to raise funds for the disabled on Dec. 1.

The China Welfare Fund for the Handicapped also pledged to set up a special fund to support research into autism and establish rehabilitation organizations for children.

Someone had also mentioned to me that autism rates in Indonesia are skyrocketing, and she was wondering why. Well, there are seven cell phone networks operating in Indonesia and I am listing the link to one of their Cell Phone Coverage Maps below - now times this by seven. It looks like they have the majority of their islands covered bypassing landlines all the way.

http://www.cellular-news.com/coverage/indonesia.php

In distinction from other cellular operators in general, MOBISELS' coverage not only in cities (provincial capital) but penetrates further in rural areas (covers regencies, districts, and villages).

Mobisel believes that telecommunication service establishes the economic development in an area. Due to this as an agent of developments, MOBISEL is never reluctant to further develop the coverage area and improve the services.
