Pine Island Chamber to conduct survey on proposed cell tower
Online survey seeks to gauge community reaction

PINE ISLAND — The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will be conducting an online survey to gather community response and reactions to the Pine Island Fire District’s proposal to contract with AT&T in erecting a 150-foot tall cell phone tower on its property.
The proposal also would include upgraded emergency communications for the fire department.
“This is a controversial subject and as many people have asked how the entire community feels about the issue, we are hoping to get broad response from as many local residents and businesses as we can,” Chamber President John Redman wrote in the chamber's press release announcing the effort. "The survey will help to determine how many favor the proposed location, favor a possible alternate location, or oppose a cell tower at any location in Pine Island."
The survey can be found on the Chamber’s Web site, www.pineislandny.com, under the “Community” button.
For those who do not have internet access, you can request a survey ballot by mail at P.O. Box 354 Pine Island, NY 10969, or by leaving a message on the chamber’s phone line at 845-258-1469 and one will be mailed to you.
The survey will be available from Friday, Dec. 13 through Dec. 27. There will be space for individual comments as well.
