Wi-Fi is killing me, says woman in Xiamen allergic to electromagnetic waves

Wi-Fi is killing me, says woman in Xiamen allergic to electromagnetic waves

Updated: 12 Jun 2015

Most people simply ask for a Wi-Fi password when they arrive in a restaurant or café offering free Internet access. But things are not so simple for this Xiamen resident.

The resident, who goes by the alias Xiao Yue, said that she wanted to find a living environment that was totally free of electronic products. She was even considering moving to a remote mountainous area to escape her allergy to electromagnetic waves.

Her condition is known as electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), purportedly caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields.

The reported symptoms of EHS include headache, fatigue, stress, sleep disturbances, skin symptoms such as prickling, burning sensations and rashes, pain and ache in muscles, and many other health problems.

"I can't talk on the phone for more than 10 minutes. My toes and lower parts of my legs turn black when I use a mobile phone for more than 10 minutes," said Xiao Yue, a Chinese medicine doctor.

"But luckily enough, I return to normal 20 minutes after turning off the electronic products," she added.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), EHS has no clear diagnostic criteria and there is no scientific basis to link EHS symptoms to EMF exposure. There exists no medical diagnosis for the issue, nor is it clear that it represents a single medical problem.

MILITARY VETERAN TAKEN TO COURT BY CITY OVER ‘OFF-GRID’ LIFESTYLE

MILITARY VETERAN TAKEN TO COURT BY CITY OVER ‘OFF-GRID’ LIFESTYLE

Authorities demand man's property be connected to city utilities
by PAUL JOSEPH WATSON | JUNE 17, 2015

27-year-old Tyler Truitt and his girlfriend have become totally independent of reliance on city utilities, hooking up solar panels and rainwater collectors on their two acre property, but the city of Huntsville, Alabama claims the structure is unsafe because of sanitation issues.

“They came and they condemned our house and told us if we stayed here we’d be arrested for trespassing on our own property, and the reason why is, they said, it was unsafe living conditions because we don’t have city utilities hooked up,” Truitt told WAFF48.

The city asserts Truitt’s property must be connected to the city’s treatment facility for the safety of Truitt and his neighbors and to comply with health codes.
“The absence of a connection to a sanitary sewer system (whether a septic system or sanitary sewer outfall line connected, ultimately, to a treatment facility, is not only a health and safety issue for the occupants, it’s a health and safety issue for others who may live around him/her,” said Kelly Schrimsher, communications director for Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “There are both benefits to be obtained, and compromises to be made, when people choose to live in an urban community.”
Truitt has vowed to stay on the property until he is physically hauled away by police, asserting that he is upholding the oath he swore to protect constitutional rights.
“You have to stand up for what you believe in,” he said. “They could come out here today if they wanted to and take us to jail for trespassing, if that’s what they want to call it. … That’d be fine with me. I’ll still come back the next day and the next day and the next day because it’s my home and because I live here. Where else am I supposed to go really?”

Huntsville officials claim that living off grid is not illegal, but that Truitt has violated an ordinance which states that he cannot live in a trailer that’s not in a designated trailer park. Truitt’s next court date is set for July 29.

As we have previously reported, the clash between Americans choosing to live off-grid lifestyles and city authorities who insist they comply with sanitation codes has been intensifying.

All ten of the children seized from “off grid” parents Joe and Nicole Naugler in Breckinridge County, Kentucky remain in state custody 6 weeks after they were first taken.

The children were removed from the family by Sheriff’s deputies on May 6 as a result of the Naugler’s “free range” lifestyle on a rural 27 acre property. Photos posted on the family’s Facebook page suggested the children were growing up in an idyllic environment, but authorities claimed that living and sanitary conditions on the property were dangerous.

ACC Corruption Scandal Continues to Unfold

ACC Corruption Scandal Continues to Unfold

"Stump has said there's nothing to see here ...." Ha! Of course there isn't now that he's deleted his messages and chucked his phone.

Read all about it:

Surprise surprise, Corp Comm messages to APS are gone

 Laurie Roberts, The Republic | azcentral.com 5:07 p.m. MST June 17, 2015

So a state official is regularly sending text messages to an executive of a utility that he regulates. He then routinely deletes the text messages, despite the fact that such communications are public record.
And when questions arise about the content of those messages, we are told he's thrown away his cell phone. His state-supplied cell phone.

Convenient, isn't it?

If you're not following the saga of the Arizona Corporation Commission and its rather cozy relationship with Arizona Public Service, then don't be surprised to wake up one day be surprised to see that your electric bill has shot up like a Phoenix thermometer on a June afternoon.

You already know much of this stunning story, how APS is widely believed to have secretly funneled several million dollars into a 2014 campaign to get a pair of utility-friend candidates elected to the commission that sets electric rates – secret funding that's entirely legal and absolutely odiferous.

How cagey APS executives won't say that they did it and won't say that they didn't do it.
How corporation commissioners won't force the utility to open its books to see how its spending ratepayer money, even though it would take just one of the five commissioners to issue such an order.

You may also know that Checks and Balances Project -- a public watchdog blog that advocates for clean energy policies and is largely funded by a dark-money non-profit known as Renew American Prosperity -- has obtained cell phone logs that call into question whether Commissioner Bob Stump acted as a go-between last year in order to coordinate activities between APS and its favored candidates, Tom Forese and Doug Little.

According to the logs, Stump was madly texting Forese and Little during the run-up to last year's election, along with an APS executive and the head of the Arizona Free Enterprise Club, which spent nearly $450,000 on an independent dark-money campaign aimed at getting the pair elected to the commission that regulates utilities. APS is widely believed to have supplied funding to the Free Enterprise Club and a second dark-money group in order to secure the election of Forese and Little.

In all, the logs show Stump sent 56 emails to Barbara Lockwood, an APS executive, between June and September and 46 to Mussi. He sent about 180 to Forese and Little, who enjoyed $3.2 million in dark money support from AzFEC and that second dark-money group, Save Our Future Now.

Stump has said there's nothing to see here, that his calls to Lockwood were unrelated to Forese and Little's campaign and that Mussi is an old friend. It seems Stump was merely trying to coordinate a trip to the symphony when he called Mussi 46 times during the campaign season.

Meanwhile, the commission has said there's nothing to see here because Stump also sent texts to rooftop solar executives.
Of course, whenever a public official says there's nothing to see, it behooves those who are doing the looking to dig a little deeper. So the folks at Checks and Balances, skeptics that they are, have demanded that the Corporation Commission turn over Stump's text messages or, in the alternative, to secure Stump's phone so that commission staff can try to retrieve the deleted messages.
Now the commission has informed Checks and Balances that Stump routinely deleted all of his text messages and then deleted the state-issued phone, by disposing of it.

According to the Arizona Capitol Times, the commission's attorney, David Cantelme, sent a letter to Checks and Balances, informing the non-profit that Stump deleted commission-related texts from his commission-issued phone "consistent with Arizona law and applicable document-retention protocols."

I'm not sure how Cantelme can say that Stump was OK to delete those messages, given that the lawyer admits that he never actually saw what was in those messages.

He also didn't explain why Stump curiously didn't return his state-issued phone rather than disposing of it himself. Cantelme said the phone "had passed into obsolescence."

So, too, apparently has the idea of a Corporation Commission that actually regulates utilities.

Canadian Parliament Committee Calls for Protection of Vulnerable Groups from Wireless Radiation Exposure

Canadian Parliament Committee Calls for Protection of Vulnerable Groups from Wireless Radiation Exposure

June 17, 2015

The Standing Committee on Health of the House of Commons in the Canadian Parliament issued a report on radio frequency electromagnetic radiation and health in June, 2015.

The  Committee held public hearings regarding Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 recommended limits on safe human exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation.

Witnesses testified to the Committee or submitted briefs that raised concerns about the adequacy of Safety Code 6 to protect the population from health risks due to RF radiation ....

The witnesses discussed possible links between RF exposure and cancer, reproductive issues and autism. Concerns were raised about RF exposure in schools due to use of Wi-Fi; the need for RF exposure limits to protect vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, infants and children, and persons with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) ....
The Standing Committee on Health made the following recommendations in their report to the Parliament ....

"Cell Phones and Wireless Technologies: Should Safety Guidelines be Strengthened to Protect Adults, Children and Vulnerable Populations--And Should Parents, Teachers and Schools Restrict Technology Overuse Among Children?"

Monday, June 22nd, 11:30-3:30 p.m. (light lunch at 11:00 a.m.)
Commonwealth Club of California
555 Post Street (new location), San Francisco

Participants: Victoria L. Dunckley, Martin L. Pall, Beatrice Alexandra Golomb, Suleyman Kaplan, Mary Redmayne, Nesrin Seyhan, Devra Davis, Karl Maret, Joel Moskowitz, Camilla Rees, and Lloyd Morgan.
In the wireless generation, people have embraced and accommodated the cellphone, but how much physical harm could a tiny wireless device cause? A panel of distinguished researchers will review the science of cellphone risk, mechanisms of action, new genetic questions, and whether the IARC warning should be upgraded to "probable carcinogen" – or even "carcinogen." Special focus will be put on risks to children and the role overuse of wireless technologies may be playing in attention, functional and relational difficulties and risk to the elderly, where cognitive decline might be misconstrued as dementia. The program includes a light lunch.

Recently, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board of directors voted for an “immediate halt to mandatory installation of advanced (wireless) utility meters on all private residences within the jurisdiction of the RDOS; and further, that all such meters recently installed within Electoral Area ‘D’ be removed immediately, at full cost to FortisBC.”
ITRON’s OpenWay wireless electricity meters being installed by FortisBC are neither UL nor CSA certified. According to the BC Safety Standards Act, utilities are exempted from having their equipment certified by these agencies on the condition that a registered professional engineer licensed in B.C. tests and certifies, in writing, its safety. Why then is FortisBC unwilling or unable to provide the mandatory fire safety certification required under BC law? Its provision is crucial, given that electrical experts have identified disturbing design flaws in the Itron meter that may help explain numerous smart meter fires in Summerland and other areas of B.C., and in Saskatchewan, Ontario and the U.S.
There is another aspect of wireless smart meters that also poses grave concerns: their massive rollout, along with the unchecked proliferation of telecommunication towers and WiMAX services, has produced unprecedented levels of radiofrequency (RF) radiation in urban areas. Many biomedical scientists regard smart meter grid technology as risky and would vigorously challenge any utility’s claim that RF radiation from smart meters is far less harmful than that from cellphones and other wireless devices. Signals of this general type have been found to cause serious biological effects including DNA damage, depressed levels of sleep-regulating melatonin, altered heart rates, opiate-dopamine neurotransmitter disruptions and leakage of the protective blood-brain barrier.
RF radiation, regardless of the wireless source, has been implicated in an alarming array of adverse health effects. These include: Alzheimer’s disorder; memory and attention deficits; male infertility, immune dysfunction; impaired learning in children; sleep disturbances and a negative impact on general well-being. Notably, a 3-to-5 fold increased risk for fatal brain tumours has been independently linked to long-term, next-to-ear use of cellphones (e.g., 20 min/day for a decade or more), prompting the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 2011 to classify all RF-emitting wireless devices as Group 2B (possibly cancer-causing) agents.
Unlike exercising individual choice in the usage of cellphones and other consumer wireless devices, installation of smart meters, except for a minority who can afford the radio-off option fee, is mandatory. Would you honestly accept compulsory introduction of lead, pesticide DDT, engine exhaust and other Group 2B (possible carcinogens) in your home?
Recently over 200 distinguished scientists and cancer specialists from 39 nations petitioned the United Nations member states “to adopt more protective exposure guidelines for wireless technology in the face of increasing evidence of risk.” These experts also urged the IARC to reclassify RF-emitting wireless devices as Group 2A (probably cancer-causing) agents.
Similarly, international experts, recently appearing before Parliament’s Standing Committee on Health, launched a withering attack on Health Canada’s Safety Code 6 guidelines for protection against wireless devices as “out-dated, incomplete and invalid,” warning that the microwave levels permitted in Canadian classrooms, residences and workplaces constitute a “disaster to public health.”
FortisBC’s radio-off option is flawed on at least three counts.  First, in a common scenario involving adjacent houses with face-to-face meters mounted on opposite outside walls, exercising the option is ineffective if your neighbour does not also comply. Simply put, most of the signal you receive is from your neighbour’s meter as the meter’s faceplate reflects much of the signal being sent inwardly to your own residence. Second, the radio-off option is unfair, penalizing those who would benefit the most but least able to pay the exorbitant fee: young families; the disabled and the elderly and electro-hypersensitive persons. Third, and not least, it does not alleviate the overarching fire hazard concerns nor the creation of high-frequency transients on electrical wiring (dirty electricity) as the meter with its many design flaws is still mounted on the house.
In conclusion, critical concerns regarding either the safety or health issue alone would be more than sufficient to warrant the RDOS vote. These two issues, taken together, make the precautionary-based RDOS motion, a slam-dunk.
